New Delhi, July 11: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has chargesheeted eight accused, including Pakistan-based gangster-turned-terrorist Shehzad Bhatti, in connection with the January 2026 IED car bomb blast at the parking area of Baldev Nagar Police Station in Ambala, Haryana.

The chargesheet, filed before the Special NIA Court in Panchkula, names Bhatti along with seven arrested Indian nationals under provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Explosive Substances Act and the Telecommunication Act.

According to the NIA, Bhatti orchestrated the conspiracy to target the police station with the objective of spreading terror. The agency alleged that he created operational modules in India and directed local operatives to arrange logistics and explosive materials for attacks on police establishments.

The investigation identified Akash as Bhatti’s principal India-based operative responsible for coordinating the attack with other accused. The agency said the conspirators carried out reconnaissance of the police station before parking a car loaded with gas cylinders and explosive substances inside the premises. They also allegedly videographed the scene for publicity.

The NIA further alleged that Bhatti recruited and radicalised the accused through social media and encrypted communication platforms. It said digital, electronic, documentary and forensic evidence established regular contact between the accused and the Pakistan-based handler during the planning and execution of the attack.

The investigation into the case is continuing.
