NEW DELHI, May 25: Petrol and diesel prices were raised by Rs 2.61 and Rs 2.71 per litre respectively on Monday, marking the fourth hike in less than two weeks as state-owned oil firms continued passing on rising international fuel costs to consumers.

With the latest increase, cumulative hikes in petrol and diesel prices have crossed Rs 7.5 per litre since fuel price revisions resumed on May 15 after a prolonged freeze.

In Delhi, petrol prices rose to Rs 102.12 per litre from Rs 99.51, while diesel rates increased to Rs 95.20 per litre from Rs 92.49, according to industry sources.

The latest revision comes amid elevated global crude oil prices and depreciation in the rupee, which have increased import costs for oil marketing companies. (Agencies)
