J&K: Several houses gutted in fire in Kishtwar’s Dachhan
by Northlines · NorthlinesJammu, Jan 2: Several houses were gutted in a fire that broke out early this morning in Dachhan area of Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.
“A massive blaze broke out in Thechna village of the Dachhan area in which several houses were completely gutted,” said officials.
They said that the fire started in one of the houses and quickly spread to the nearby homes that resulted in the destruction of at least five to six residential houses.
The locals along with police and army are trying to douse the flames to control the fire.
Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, who is Member Parliament from Kathua-Udhampur Constituency, in a post on X said, “spoke to DC Kishtwar Pankaj Sharma, after learning about the fire incident in the Dachhan area, in which a couple of houses were gutted.”
“No loss of life has been reported. The administration and the Red Cross have immediately mobilised relief material to the spot,” he posted.
Meanwhile, financial assistance is also being arranged for the affected families, Dr Singh further said in a post.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressing concern over the fire incident in Kishtwar in which several structures were gutted, affecting many families, posted on X, “have asked the district administration to ensure immediate relief, assess losses and provide all necessary assistance to the affected families.”
Meanwhile Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma also expressed concern over a blaze and said, “the fire has been largely brought under control, one house remains severely affected and still poses a risk of reigniting nearby structures.”
“Have spoken to the local administration and the fire brigade department to ensure swift response and assistance to the affected families,” he said, adding that the situation is being monitored and it is being ensured that the necessary assistance reaches the affected people at the earliest.”
