Nominated by: Anna Binet
A CHARITY which provides vital support to Islanders affected by eating disorders has been nominated for the Community Champion of the Year award.
Anna Binet said Jersey Eating Disorders Support had been “a lifeline” for her and many others, helping people through some of the most difficult times in their lives.
She said the charity offered far more than support with eating disorders and food-related challenges, providing a safe and welcoming community where people are treated with kindness, compassion and respect.
Ms Binet praised JEDS for bringing together people with lived experience, those on their recovery journey, counsellors, peer supporters and volunteers.
She added that the charity’s group meetings were invaluable and provided a confidential environment which was free from judgment.
Ms Binet said JEDS continued to change lives despite limited resources and deserved greater recognition for the difference it made every day.
“JEDS will always hold a special place in my heart,” she said. “They have supported me in more ways than I can put into words.”
