Your Google Photos grid is about to get a lot more customizable on Android

Google Photos is an easy app and service to recommend if you're someone who's invested in Google's ecosystem. It provides a gallery for your most important moments, but also makes backing up your photos simple, while also giving you access to tools and features to improve your images.

It works on most platforms and delivers big when you need it to. I've used it for over a decade and can't really see myself looking elsewhere. Google Photos keeps succeeding because of the constant updates it pushes out to improve the experience. While I won't say I love every single update, most of them are pretty good.

And while Google does a great job showcasing changes when needed, we love getting a glimpse of what's coming down the pipeline. Android Authority explored the code for Google Photos version 7.92.0 and found that the company may be working on a new way to personalize your photo grid.

Currently, Google offers different options for viewing your photos, including organizing the view by day, week, or month. There's also a Feature mode that highlights some bigger moments in your current gallery by making the image stand out from the rest. It does this by enlarging the image and physically highlighting it from the rest of the grid.

Since the selection is random, your grid may look a little inconsistent when you scroll. If you're not a fan, Android users can turn it off if the feature is ever activated. If you're an iPhone user, you'll know this feature already exists within the iOS version of Google Photos. You can tap the three-dot menu in the upper right-hand corner to access items to personalize your grid.

You'll see an option for Feature photos that you can check or uncheck. Personally, I've never even really thought about photos being a certain size in Google Photos. I just use the app as-is and roll with whatever changes were happening that day. When this feature will roll out to Android users is anyone's guess.

However, since it is already available for iOS, it is a feature that will eventually come out and not just something in testing.
