Motorola's Edge 70 is the affordable thin phone you've been waiting for

by · Android Police

Motorola is the latest brand to jump onboard the thin phone trend with the Motorola Edge 70, and it may be the most compelling take on the design yet.

Why? Sensible performance, a super design, the latest software, and a reasonable price.

Motorola Edge 70

The Edge 70 is 5.99mm thick, so not quite as svelte as the 5.64mm Apple iPhone Air or 5.8mm thick Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, but you probably won’t notice. Where Motorola has them both beat is in the weight, as the Edge 70 is just 159 grams.

This should make the Edge 70 a pleasure to hold and carry, while theIP68/IP69 dust and water resistance, plus MIL-STD-810H toughness certification will give you confidence in the lightweight device's durability.

On the front is a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen, and inside is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor and either 8GB or 12GB of RAM, with the choice of 256GB or 512GB of storage space.

Inevitably, you’re concerned about the battery inside such a thin phone. It’s a 4,800mAh cell, but it’s no ordinary phone battery. Motorola has used a silicon-carbon battery for the Edge 70, promising both efficiency and longevity.

Expect 50 hours of mixed use from a single charge, according to Motorola, and to use either a 68W wired or 15W wireless charger when it’s flat.

More specs

There are two cameras on the back of the phone, starting with a 50-megapixel main camera, which is joined by a 50MP wide-angle camera. A third 50MP camera is on the front for selfie duties.

The Motorola Edge 70 comes with Android 16 already installed, and will receive three additional version updates. Motorola claims it’s four, but then goes on to say that number includes Android 16, which is a little confusing, so we're calling it three. In addition, the phone will get security updates until 2031.

Color experts Pantone have come up with three colors for the Edge 70 called Bronze Green, Lily Pad, and Gadget Grey. The phone’s case is made from polycarbonate, and a slimline magnetic case for protection is included in the box.

Release date and price

The Motorola Edge 70 will be released in the U.K., Europe, Latin America, and several other regions from November 5. It’ll cost £700 (which is about $915), making it substantially cheaper than the Galaxy S25 Edge and iPhone Air locally. Remember those devices have higher specifications though.

A U.S. release has not been announced yet, but Motorola often staggers its releases, and uses different names for devices launched around the world, so it may still happen.
