World Cup 2026: St Patrick's Athletic celebrate Joseph Anang after Ghana call-up
· GhanaSoccernetSt Patrick's Athletic FC have proudly celebrated their goalkeeper Joseph Anang after he was named in Ghana's final 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Irish club took to social media to express their pride, announcing that Anang will make history as the first player from St Patrick's Athletic to travel to the World Cup.
"For the first time in our club's history a player from St Patrick's Athletic will travel to the World Cup. We're all behind Joseph Anang and Ghana in Canada, Mexico & the USA!" the club wrote.
Anang, who is among five goalkeepers initially called up to Ghana's provisional squad, survived the final cuts to secure his place on the plane to North America. He will compete with Benjamin Asare, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, and others for the number one spot.
The 26-year-old has been a reliable presence for the Irish club, and his selection marks a significant milestone in his career. Ghana open their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17, with Anang hoping to make an impact should he be called upon.
