The head coach of South Africa, Hugo Broos, has shared his delight about the narrow 1-0 victory over Ghana on Tuesday afternoon.

The Bafana Bafana, as part of preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), played an international friendly match with Ghana’s CHAN team, called the Black Galaxies.

In a game played at Dobsonville Stadium, the Bafana Bafana faced a tough test from the Black Galaxies but managed to secure victory thanks to a solitary strike from Sipho Mbule.

Speaking in a post-match interview, Hugo Broos indicated that although he is happy with the result, he was not pleased with the overall performance of his team.

“I’m happy with the result that we won the game, but I think we can play much better than today,” he said on SABC 2.

Broos added, “We didn’t really play a very good game, there was not so much movement in the team what we are used to, the passing was not good.

“So we still need a little bit work to be on the highest level for next week.”

South Africa will open their campaign at AFCON 2025 with a showdown against Angola on December 22.

Subsequently, the Bafana Bafana will face off with Egypt and Zimbabwe in the other Group B matches.
