Kurt Okraku congratulates Black Stars, pledges GFA's support ahead of 2026 World Cup

President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku, has applauded the Black Stars for securing qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America. 

The Black Stars finished ended their qualifying run with a 1-0 home win over Comoros, and top the group with 25 points from ten matches.

The team's outstanding performance comes from the backdrop of a disappointing Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where the Black Stars for the first time in 20 years failed to reach the continent's biggest tournament.

President Okraku praised the team's resilience and promised that his outfit will provide the necessary support to ensure the Black Stars make a statement on the world stage.

"Gratitude!!! On behalf of the Ghana Football Association, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Black Stars for their outstanding achievement in qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup for the fifth time in our nation’s proud history," the FA boss posted on Facebook.

"This remarkable feat stands as a testament to the team’s resilience, unity and unyielding determination, especially coming after the disappointment of missing out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

"We commend the technical team, led by Head Coach Otto Addo, the players and the entire management staff for their professionalism and commitment throughout the qualification campaign. Their collective effort, coupled with the strategic leadership of the Executive Council, has reignited national confidence and demonstrated the strength of Ghanaian football.

"To the millions of passionate Ghanaians at home and abroad, your steadfast support has once again proven invaluable. Together, we have shown that with belief, perseverance and unity, Ghana can overcome any challenge.
