President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe has said his outfit will work tirelessly to ensure a successful and well-organized 2027 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, to be held in East Africa.

Earlier reports suggested the continental football governing are considering postponing the tournament, to be co-hosted by Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya amid delay in preparations.

But Motsepe has shrug off the reports in the media, emphasizing the importance of delivering a high-quality tournament that showcases Africa’s footballing talent and hospitality

“We are committed to making AFCON 2027 a landmark event for East Africa and for African football as a whole,” he said. “CAF will work closely with the host nations to ensure every aspect of the tournament, from infrastructure to logistics, meets the highest standards.” He said at CAF’s press briefing in Tanzania.

Motsepe highlighted the role of CAF in supporting the host countries, promising strategic oversight and collaboration with local football associations, governments, and partners. He also stressed that the tournament would not only celebrate football but also boost tourism, culture, and economic opportunities in the region.

AFCON 2027 is expected to bring together the continent’s top national teams, providing fans with thrilling matches and memorable moments. With Motsepe’s commitment, CAF aims to leave a lasting legacy in East Africa, strengthening the reputation of African football on the global stage.
