Ghana’s Black Stars have received a timely boost ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup following the return of Ernest Nuamah from injury.

The talented winger is back in action after a lengthy spell on the sidelines, handing a major lift to both the team and head coach Carlos Queiroz as preparations intensify for the global tournament.

The 22-year-old winger had been sidelined since April 5, 2025, after suffering a serious ACL injury that kept him out for over a year. After 391 days and missing 54 matches, Nuamah finally stepped back onto the pitch, coming on as a second-half substitute to play the final six minutes at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais.

Ghana have been drawn in a challenging group alongside England, Panama, and Croatia, making squad depth and attacking options crucial heading into the competition.

Nuamah’s return is particularly significant given his impact during the qualification campaign.

Before his injury setback, the former Nordsjaelland forward scored two goals in five appearances, emerging as one of Ghana’s brightest attacking threats in the World Cup qualifiers.

His pace, creativity, and eye for goal add a different dimension to the Black Stars’ attack—qualities that could prove decisive against top opposition on the world stage.

With the tournament fast approaching, Nuamah will now focus on regaining full match fitness and sharpness. If he returns to top form in time, he could play a key role in Ghana’s quest to make a strong impression at the World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
