WAFU B congratulates Ghana on 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification
· GhanaSoccernetThe West African Football Union Zone B (WAFU B) has officially congratulated Ghana on securing qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The message of goodwill was conveyed in a letter signed by WAFU B Executive Director Tchere Mirin Alain-Philippe and addressed to the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
In the letter, WAFU B commended the GFA for its leadership and commitment, which guided the Black Stars to their fifth World Cup appearance and second successive qualification following the 2022 tournament in Qatar.
The regional football body praised Ghana’s consistency on the international stage and highlighted the Black Stars’ contribution to the rising profile of West African football.
“WAFU Zone B extends its heartfelt congratulations to the Ghana Football Association and the Black Stars for qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Your achievement is a source of pride for the region and reflects the progress of football development in West Africa,” the letter partly read.
WAFU B further encouraged the Black Stars to represent the continent with pride and determination when the global showpiece kicks off in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The body expressed confidence that Ghana will continue to uphold its rich footballing heritage and deliver performances that make Africa proud.
Ghana sealed qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a 1-0 victory over Comoros, a result that confirmed their place among Africa’s nine automatic representatives and sparked nationwide celebrations.
Ghana will learn their group opponents on December 5, 2025, when the World Cup draw is held in Washington, D.C.
