Coach Johnson Smith did not hide his intense frustration after Basake Holy Stars suffered a shocking 2-0 defeat to bottom-placed Techiman Eleven Wonders in their opening match of the Ghana Premier League's second round.

Arriving late to his post-match press conference, Smith admitted his delay was a direct result of his anger and confusion over his team's performance.

"It’s the same thing I’m asking them – that’s why I delayed," the visibly furious coach stated. He pinpointed a troubling attitude from his players in the buildup to the match as a core issue. "Their attitude before the match, after training, everything was obvious. I had to psych them up because if you don’t let players know what they are doing wrong, you will go astray. That is our problem," Smith explained.

His exasperation was clear as he questioned the team's display on the pitch. "I was furious. What type of game was that? No, no, no," he said. "I don’t usually shout like this, but I was shouting because there was a problem within them. Either they wanted to give out or do something different."

Despite his raw emotions, Smith acknowledged the need to regain composure to address the problems constructively ahead of their next fixture against Bechem United. "I have to calm down," he conceded. "I like talking to the boys and psyching them. If I go furious on them, everything will go astray."

The defeat marks a concerning start to the second round for Holy Stars, who entered the match in 14th place, and leaves their coach searching for urgent answers to correct the team's course.
