Final Black Stars squad for World Cup 2026 will be announced after Wales friendly – GFA

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that the Black Stars’ final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be announced after the upcoming friendly match against Wales.

In an official notice from the association on Monday, it said the required 26-man squad will be submitted to FIFA on Monday, June 1.

“Twenty-six players will be submitted to FIFA on Monday, June 1, as mandated by the competition regulations. The final squad will be announced after the Wales friendly,” parts of the notice from the GFA said.

The Black Stars opened camp on Monday, May 25, and trained at the Dragon Park in Cardiff ahead of the friendly against Wales.

The players who trained include Ernest Nuamah, Brandon Thomas-Asante, Jordan Ayew, Caleb Yirenkyi, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Elisha Owusu, Gideon Mensah, Marvin Senaya, Jerome Opoku, Benjamin Asare, Joseph Anang, Solomon Agbasi, and Alidu Seidu.

The pre-World Cup friendly against Wales is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, and will help coach Carlos Queiroz assess the strength of his team before heading to the United States of America for the tournament.
