World Cup 2026: South Africa can beat Mexico if we stick to our game plan – Hugo Broos
· GhanaSoccernetSouth Africa head coach Hugo Broos is optimistic they can beat Mexico in their opening match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He, however, insists that his players must stick to their game plan for the matchday if they are to secure all three points.
Speaking in his pre-match interview ahead of the crucial opening match, Hugo Broos described Mexico as a dangerous side, warning his squad to stay alert throughout the clash.
"They are all dangerous, they are a very good team with much movement and solidarity. You can see they really want to be world champions.
"You can see that with the way they play. We will have to be at our best level if we want to get a result. It is a very complete team.
"For us, it will be very important to stick to the game plan, and we don't listen to what is happening in the stands,” Hugo Broos said.
The opening Group A match between Mexico and South Africa is scheduled for Thursday, June 11, at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
The highly anticipated contest is a repeat of the 2010 World Cup staged in South Africa. Thursday’s encounter is scheduled to kick off at 19:00GMT.
