Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan has praised Ernest Nuamah following the winger's impressive performance in the Black Stars' 1-1 draw with Wales on Tuesday night.

Nuamah was one of Ghana's brightest performers at the Cardiff City Stadium, causing constant problems for the Welsh defence with his pace, direct running and attacking intent, particularly after the break.

The Lyon winger played a key role in Ghana's opening goal, producing the initial effort that led to Caleb Yirenkyi converting the rebound to give the Black Stars the lead.

His display caught the attention of Gyan, who took to social media after the match to express his admiration for the 22-year-old.

"ERNEST NUAMAH making the difference right there. I'm impressed in the second half," Gyan posted on X.

Nuamah's performance was one of the positives for Ghana on an evening that saw Carlos Queiroz's side come close to securing their first victory under the Portuguese coach.

The winger repeatedly stretched the Welsh backline and looked like Ghana's most dangerous attacking outlet whenever he got on the ball.

Ghana appeared on course for victory after Yirenkyi's goal, but Wales struck late to earn a 1-1 draw and deny the Black Stars a morale-boosting win.

The result means Ghana remain without a victory heading into the 2026 FIFA World Cup, having endured a difficult run in recent friendly matches.

However, Nuamah's encouraging display will give Queiroz plenty of optimism ahead of the tournament, especially with Mohammed Kudus unavailable through injury.

Ghana will now turn their attention to the World Cup, where they open their Group L campaign against Panama on June 17 before facing England and Croatia.
