Sports Minister Kofi Adams proud of Black Queens despite England defeat

Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has applauded the performance of Ghana's Black Queens in their international friendly against England. 

The WAFCON 2024 bronze medalist suffered a 2-0 defeat to the Lionesses at the Saint Mary's in a highly competitive encounter. Goals in either half from Lucia Kendall and Alessia Russo ensured the European champions extended their winning run.

Despite the defeat, the Black Queens received positive reviews with Honourable Adams taking to social media to praise the team.

He posted on X: "A bold and brilliant performance from the Black Queens tonight. your growth, grit, and grace inspire us all. We are proud of you. We are behind you. And we are just getting started."

The Minister pledges to support the Black Queens as Ghana eyes a return to the Women's World Cup in 2027.

The Black Queens before the friendly with England secured qualification to the Women's Africa Cup of Nations in 2026 following a thumping victory over Egypt. The tournament next year will serve as a qualification competition for the FIFA Women's World Cup.
