Baba Yara struggles hurt Asante Kotoko and fans – Prince Owusu
· GhanaSoccernetAsante Kotoko head coach Prince Yaw Owusu has admitted the club’s inability to secure victories at the Baba Yara Stadium continues to trouble him, describing the situation as painful for both the team and its supporters.
The Porcupine Warriors have dropped crucial points at their Kumasi fortress, being second from bottom on the Ghana Premier League table based on home form.
Speaking in a pre-match interview ahead of Kotoko’s trip to face Karela United, Owusu reflected on the team’s struggles and the frustration that comes with failing to deliver victories for their passionate fan base.
Kotoko head into the fixture searching for consistency after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Accra Hearts of Oak before being held to a goalless draw by Vision FC.
Notably, in both matches the Kumasi-based side enjoyed a numerical advantage throughout the entire second half but were still unable to convert the opportunity into wins.
“It’s not easy at all. A lot of thinking about what’s going on, what is happening, why Kumasi, all those things cross my mind. It hurts a lot because my fans also are in Kumasi and this is where we have to satisfy them and it’s not happening. It’s very difficult for us.”
Kotoko currently sit fourth in the Ghana Premier League standings with 39 points, seven behind leaders Medeama.
