Black Stars camp in Wales boosted by arrival of Benjamin Asare after Mexico friendly
· GhanaSoccernetHearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has joined the Black Stars camp in Wales, bolstering the national team's preparations following their recent international friendly against Mexico.
Asare, who started in goal during the 2-0 defeat in Puebla, arrived in Cardiff to join a growing contingent of players as head coach Carlos Queiroz fine-tunes his tactics for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
His arrival is seen as a significant boost to the goalkeeping department, where his consistent domestic form and recent performances in the qualifying rounds have positioned him as a strong candidate for the starting role when the tournament kicks off in North America.
Also present in the Cardiff camp is versatile Rennes defender Alidu Seidu.
The squad currently features several European-based stars, including Leicester City duo Jordan Ayew and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, alongside Ligue 1 defenders Gideon Mensah and Marvin Senaya.
The Black Stars are scheduled to face Wales in a final warm-up match on June 2 before Queiroz announces his definitive 26-man squad on June 1.
Drawn into Group L against England, Croatia, and Panama, Ghana is aiming for a deep run in what will be their fifth appearance on the world stage, with spirits high despite the recent friendly loss.
