Our heroic performance a sign of progress in women's football, says Black Queens midfielder Jennifer Cudjoe
· GhanaSoccernetBlack Queens midfielder Jennifer Cudjoe believes placing third at the just-ended 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) is proof of progress in women’s football in Ghana.
Having returned to the tournament, the Queens clinched a bronze medal, beating South Africa 4-3 in the third-place playoff.
Ghana had failed to qualify for the last edition and couldn’t progress from the group stages as hosts in 2018.
“There is a progress now,” she said.
“So we hope in the future there is going to be more investment into women's football. For now, it is getting better than it used to be.”
Black Queens will arrive at Kotoka International Airport in Ghana later today at 5:00 am
Meanwhile, Nigeria were crowned champions after edging hosts Morocco to claim a record 10th title.
