Former Black Stars defender Samuel Inkoom has thrown his support behind the Ghana Football Association's decision to add five new members to the Black Stars' technical team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking to Connect FM 97.1, Inkoom commended both the GFA and the Sports Ministry for what he described as thorough pre-tournament planning.

"The pre-tournament preparation by the GFA and the Sports Ministry has been great. The new addition to the technical team is a good one. Football is all about preparation, and I am happy we are preparing well," Inkoom said.

The decision to bolster the technical bench has sparked widespread debate across Ghana, with fans and pundits divided on whether the changes will strengthen the team's chances at the global showpiece. But Inkoom believes the move signals serious intent.

According to the former defender, success at the World Cup extends far beyond the talent on the pitch. He stressed the importance of tactical analysis and proper scouting of opponents, noting that modern football demands detailed preparation.

"If you're going to the World Cup without properly monitoring your opponents, the tournament will be very difficult for you and you won't enjoy the tournament."

His remarks highlight the growing emphasis on data analysis, opponent scouting, and strategic planning as Ghana aims to make a strong impact in North America.

Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama. The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, before facing England in Boston on June 23 and Croatia in Philadelphia on June 27.

As conversations continue nationwide, Inkoom's message is clear: preparation will determine how far Ghana goes, and this time, the foundation appears solid.
