Panama midfielder Carlos Harvey has identified Ghana's pace and physical strength as key threats ahead of Wednesday's FIFA World Cup Group L encounter in Toronto.

The Minnesota United midfielder was speaking as Panama continued preparations for their first-ever World Cup match, with the Central American side set to face the Black Stars in a highly anticipated opener.

Harvey acknowledged the quality within the Ghana squad and called on his teammates to remain focused throughout the contest.

"You have to be very focused, you have to be very attentive," Harvey said.

"We know how fast Ghana is; they are very quick and strong players. They are a good team, and we have to be very focused and keep a clean sheet because we will have a chance."

The 25-year-old believes defensive organisation could prove decisive as Panama look to frustrate Otto Addo's side and create opportunities of their own.

Panama have enjoyed a largely positive build-up to the tournament and are entering the final stages of preparation under head coach Thomas Christiansen.

Monday's session at the team's Ontario base camp was intentionally lighter, with reduced physical workloads and football tennis exercises included as the squad managed energy levels ahead of the match.

A major boost for the Panamanians has been the return of influential midfielder Adalberto Carrasquilla to ball work, easing concerns over his availability for the opening fixture.

Panama will complete their final training session on Tuesday morning before travelling to Toronto, where Christiansen and a player will address the media at the official pre-match press conference.

The clash against Ghana represents a historic moment for Panama as they seek to make an immediate impact on football's biggest stage.
