'We should be competing for the top four' – Swedru All Blacks coach Kassim Mingle
· GhanaSoccernetSwedru All Blacks coach Kassim Ocansey Mingle has insisted that his side should have been competing for a top-four finish in the 2025-2026 Ghana Premier League season, rather than fighting for survival on the final day.
All Blacks entered the last round of matches needing a win against Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium to guarantee their top-flight status.
They delivered under pressure, beating the Porcupine Warriors 2-1 to secure their place in the league for another season.
Speaking after the crucial victory, Ocansey expressed confidence that his team is better than their league position suggested.
"We shouldn't have been where we are now. We would have been competing for the top four, but it's good we've survived," he told reporters.
Rudolf Mensah, who scored his 11th goal of the season in the win, was instrumental in All Blacks' survival. The former Liberty Professionals forward had earlier led the club's promotion charge, scoring 27 goals in 30 games in the Access Bank Division One League.
Looking ahead, Ocansey is already planning for improvement. "We are going to rebuild the team, and next season we will be competing for the top four," he added.
For Swedru All Blacks, survival is secured. Now, the focus shifts to building a squad capable of challenging higher up the table.
