The head coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo, has expressed hope that Ghanaian players will continue to excel at their respective clubs following a promising start to the 2025/26 football season.

Although very early into the new season, several of Ghana's players, including Mohammed Kudus, Antoine Semenyo,  and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, have been in sensational form for their clubs.

According to the tactician, the abundance of quality players at home and abroad makes it difficult for him when putting together his Black Stars squad.

Despite this admission, Addo believes it is a good thing and wants his attackers to continue scoring for their clubs.

He also hopes that goalkeepers, defenders, and midfielders will continue to excel at their clubs to ensure Ghana can get the best players to represent the national team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

"You know, we have a lot of good players at the moment, especially up front. It's really, really difficult. And yeah, we have like, eight months to observe, to look, to make the right decisions. We have some friendly games where I hope that a lot of players can show themselves. But at the moment, we have good players around. Even some good players have still not been called yet so it will be interesting," Otto Addo said at his post-match interview after the win against Comoros on Sunday.

He continued, "And this is a difficult part for me. But I think this is the best situation for Ghana. Everybody's hungry to go to the World Cup. Everybody's playing out their best. And I hope that the boys keep scoring, keep defending well, and so that they make the decision difficult for me."

Following the win against Comoros on Sunday, the Black Stars have sealed qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
