President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has toured the Kurt E.S. Okraku Technical Centre at Winkogo as part of his ongoing visit to the Upper East Region, reaffirming his commitment to strengthening football infrastructure and grassroots development.

The GFA President inspected the facility alongside the Chairman of the Upper East Regional Football Association, Salifu Zida, and members of the Regional Executive Committee. The tour provided an opportunity to assess progress made since the commissioning of the first phase of the project.

Since its completion, the technical centre has become a key hub for football development in the region, serving as the training base for the GFA Elite Academy team hosted at Bolgatanga Senior High School. The facility has also hosted several competitions and development programmes organised by the Upper East Regional Football Association, reflecting its growing importance to football activities in the region.

President Simeon-Okraku expressed satisfaction with the condition of the facility, noting that it remains in good shape and is serving its intended purpose. He was also briefed on plans for the second phase of the project, which is expected to enhance the centre’s capacity and overall functionality.

The next phase is projected to include the construction of a permanent head office for the Upper East Regional Football Association, modern dressing rooms, and spectator stands capable of hosting matches at all levels, including elite domestic competitions.

When completed, the expanded facility is expected to continue serving the people of Winkogo and surrounding communities, while helping to address long-standing sports infrastructure challenges in the Upper East Region.
