Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has appealed to Ghanaians to continue praying for the national team as they prepare for three crucial group stage matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking during a send-off event in Alexandria, Virginia, before the team's departure to Rhode Island, Ayew acknowledged the magnitude of the task facing Ghana in Group L.

The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 before taking on England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.

"We have three massive games for us, and we want to make you guys proud, we want to make Ghana proud," Ayew said.

The captain admitted Ghana face a difficult group but believes the support of the nation can make a difference.

"Obviously, it's not going to be easy, but with your prayers and your support, hopefully we'll be successful."

Ayew thanked Ghanaians for standing behind the team throughout their preparations and urged supporters to continue believing in the squad.

"We want to thank everyone for your support and keep on praying for us because we're here to make history."

The Black Stars have completed their training camp in Washington and are now based in Providence, Rhode Island, as they put the finishing touches to preparations for their World Cup opener against Panama in Toronto.
