FC Samartex confirm Christopher Ennin's departure as head coach
· GhanaSoccernetFC Samartex have confirmed the departure of head coach Christopher Ennin after he stepped down from his position ahead of the 2026/27 football season.
The Ghana Premier League club announced the decision in a statement on Thursday, bringing an end to Ennin's spell with the Samreboi-based side.
"The president of the club, on behalf of the Samartex family, has thanked him for his invaluable service to Samartex. We wish him well in his future endeavours," the club said.
Ennin took charge midway through the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season following the departure of Nurudeen Amadu, who had guided Samartex to their maiden league title.
He was tasked with stabilising the team during a challenging campaign and also won the Ghana Premier League Coach of the Month award during his tenure.
His exit had been widely anticipated after reports emerged that he had submitted a resignation letter to the club's hierarchy, expressing his intention to leave before the start of the new season.
With Samartex now confirming his departure, attention will turn to the appointment of a new head coach to lead the club into the upcoming campaign.
The Timber Giants are expected to begin the search for a successor in the coming weeks as they seek to build a competitive squad and challenge for honours next season.
