Medeama captain Yussif Mubarik has revealed that the team's pre-season preparations in Abidjan instilled a strong belief within the squad that they would go on to win the Ghana Premier League title.

Speaking after the club secured their second league championship with an emphatic 5-2 victory over Heart of Lions, the captain gave thanks for the achievement while reflecting on the hard work put in long before the competitive action began.

"First of all, I will give thanks to Almighty Allah for bringing us through this competition, and we are the winners of the competition. I will thank Allah for that," Mubarik said.

"For me as a player, the season was very tough. If you look at where we started from, as the same coach told us, Abidjan, we did a lot of work there. So coming into the season, we knew we were going to win the league. We did a lot of work there, which gave us more hope of winning the cup."

Mubarik's comments echo those of head coach Ibrahim Tanko, who has consistently credited the team's pre-season in Ivory Coast and the subsequent Nsenkyire Cup as the foundation for their successful campaign.

The title win secures Medeama a spot in next season's CAF Champions League, where they will aim to make an impact on the continental stage.

For Mubarik and his teammates, the belief that carried them through the domestic campaign will now be tested against Africa's best.
