Augustine Arhinful says Ernest Nuamah deserves Black Stars starting place after Wales display
· GhanaSoccernetFormer Ghana forward Augustine Arhinful believes Ernest Nuamah has done enough to force his way into Ghana's starting lineup for the 2026 FIFA World Cup following his impressive performance against Wales.
Nuamah was one of the Black Stars' standout performers in the 1-1 draw in Cardiff, causing problems for the Welsh defence with his pace and direct running after coming on in the second half.
The Lyon winger also played a key role in Ghana's goal, creating the opening that eventually led to Caleb Yirenkyi finding the net.
Speaking on Sporty FM, Arhinful said Nuamah had significantly strengthened his case for a place in Carlos Queiroz's starting XI.
"For me, Ernest Nuamah has taken a stake in Ghana's starting line-up after his performance against Wales," Arhinful said.
The former Black Stars striker believes Nuamah brought energy and unpredictability to Ghana's attack at a time when the team needed inspiration.
With Mohammed Kudus ruled out of the World Cup through injury, competition for attacking positions has intensified ahead of Ghana's opening Group L fixture against Panama.
Nuamah's display against Wales is expected to give Queiroz plenty to think about as he finalises his preferred lineup for the tournament.
Ghana will open their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17 before facing England and Croatia.
