Newly invited Black Queens defender Benedicte Simon has expressed her full alignment with head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren’s long-term ambition of leading Ghana back to the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The Servette FC full-back, who joined camp in Birmingham with enthusiasm and confidence, believes the team possesses the potential to achieve that dream if the current project is sustained.

Simon described herself as an explosive, fast and intelligent defender capable of influencing the game at both ends of the pitch.

According to her, versatility is one of her biggest strengths - a quality she hopes will enrich the Black Queens’ tactical options.

“I’m an explosive player. I can dribble, defend and attack. Even with my speed, I can help the team,” she said, projecting the assurance of a player ready to compete at the highest level.

The French-born Ghanaian further emphasised that she feels no pressure despite joining a squad undergoing transition.

Instead, she is focused on contributing meaningfully to the group’s collective mission.

“I don’t feel any pressure. The objective in one and a half years is to be at the World Cup - and that’s my wish too,” she stated confidently.

Simon’s arrival adds depth, experience and a European-trained defensive profile to Kim Bjorkegren’s evolving side.

Her maturity, energy and positional discipline are expected to bolster Ghana’s structure as preparations intensify ahead of upcoming international engagements.
