Carlos Queiroz believes Caleb Yirenkyi has bright future after Wales goal

Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz has praised Caleb Yirenkyi after the young midfielder scored Ghana’s only goal in the team’s final friendly match before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Yirenkyi found the net for the first time in national team colours during Ghana’s game against Wales, continuing his rise in the Black Stars setup. The talented midfielder delivered an impressive performance and caught the attention of his coach ahead of the tournament in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Speaking in his post-match interview, Queiroz highlighted the player's talent and potential while stressing the importance of gaining experience at the highest level of the game.

The Portuguese coach believes the youngster can develop into a key figure for Ghana in the years ahead if he continues to improve and gain more experience.

"He is a great player. He has a great future. He is still young and has a lot to learn. At this level, everything is so fast. Young players need talent and experience," he said.

"I believe that with more experience, he can become one of the best players in the national team."
