Bjorkegren says Black Queens focused on fine-tuning ahead of WAFCON return
· GhanaSoccernetGhana coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren says his side will use the remaining months before the next Women’s Africa Cup of Nations to sharpen key areas, while continuing to monitor players both locally and abroad.
The Black Queens finished third at the last edition earlier this year and are determined to challenge for the title when the tournament returns in about five months.
“It's almost five months or so to the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, so of course we need to watch some players,” Bjorkegren said. “We are very happy with our squad right now. We are feeling that for every camp, we are moving in the right direction. We are doing better and better and bette,r and I think that almost all people can see that as well. We are taking good steps.”
The Swede noted that progress must continue, with the coaching staff focused on improving specific tactical and technical aspects.
“But we always want to be better so we are going to take a look at the details, what can we improve, what can we do better in a football way,” he added. “But also like I said to watch players both in Ghana in the local market and also abroad.”
