Sports Minister Kofi Adams credits engagement with national teams for improved performances
· GhanaSoccernetThe Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, says consistent engagement with Ghana’s national teams has played a key role in their recent improvement.
Adams, in an interview on Asempa FM, explained that his approach focuses on maintaining close contact with players and technical teams rather than relying solely on administrative oversight.
He noted that the strategy has been applied across multiple national sides, not just the Black Stars, pointing to the Black Queens as one of the teams that have benefited from the approach.
“It was an engagement. And I didn’t just do it for the Black Stars, I did it for most of our national teams, including the Black Queens,” he said.
According to Adams, regular visits to training camps have helped raise morale within the teams. He revealed that some Black Queens players described his level of involvement as something they had not experienced in previous competitions.
“Those who had been in the Black Queens team for some time told me they had not gone for any competition where the Minister showed this level of interest, visiting them even in camp,” he stated.
He added that such interaction allows players to feel appreciated while also helping them understand the expectations of supporters.
“It’s about motivation. Let them know you appreciate what they are doing, and let them also receive feedback from the people,” he said.
Adams further stressed the need for mutual understanding, urging Ghanaians to continue supporting the teams while players remain aware of public expectations.
