Black Stars winger Ernest Nuamah has declared himself ready for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, expressing gratitude to Ghanaians for their prayers and support during his long recovery from injury.

Speaking from camp in Cardiff ahead of Ghana's friendly against Wales, the 22-year-old admitted that returning to the national team after a year away feels special.

"It's been good. It feels good to be back around the team. It's been one year since I haven't been here, but it feels good. Everyone is dedicated. We are all happy and ready to give it all for the competition," Nuamah said.

He acknowledged the challenge of adapting to head coach Carlos Queiroz's system but stressed the importance of collective effort. "Every coach has their style of play, and we need to adapt to his style. That is the most important."

Nuamah, who has been sidelined with injury, expressed deep appreciation for the support that carried him through. "I want to thank Ghanaians for your support and your prayers. I've been out for a while. It's all your prayers that I'm here today. I can't wait to get started."

The winger, who will be making his World Cup debut, described the opportunity as a childhood dream realised. "It's always been a dream to wear the national team jersey and go to the world's biggest stage of football, which is the World Cup. I can't wait to give it all. This has been my dream since I was a kid, and now this is the moment."

He vowed to give his all for the nation. "The challenge is going to be tough, but with hard work and dedication, we are going to achieve something. With all your prayers, we can do something this time. You should expect the Nuamah you know."

Ghana open their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17. For Nuamah, the long wait is finally over.
