Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has revealed that head coach Carlos Queiroz will use Ghana's upcoming friendly against Wales as a final opportunity to assess players after finalising his 26-man World Cup squad, which is set to be named today, June 1.

Speaking on TV3, Adams explained that the training period in Cardiff and the match on June 2 will provide Queiroz with valuable insights into how the team will be set up in World Cup games.

"He has a friendly on June 2 against Wales, and he wants to use the training period to observe a number of them and maybe give some of them the opportunity to play. He would then use that to conclude," Adams said.

The minister also confirmed that the goalkeeping department is most likely to suffer the heaviest reductions, with five shot-stoppers currently in camp competing for what is typically three spots in a World Cup squad.

"Normally, if you look at the number of goalkeepers that are sent to tournaments, and in the 28-man call-up he already has five goalkeepers, it means you will not be taking five goalkeepers to the tournament. So the cut is likely to come from there more," he added.

The Black Stars are currently in Wales preparing for the friendly. The final 26-man squad for the World Cup will be announced later today, with Ghana set to open their Group L campaign against Panama on June 17.
