Dreams FC coach Winfred Dormon cautious of Nations FC despite relegation

Dreams FC head coach Winfred Dormon has warned his players against underestimating Nations FC in the MTN FA Cup final, insisting that their relegation from the Ghana Premier League does not reflect their impressive cup run.

The two sides will face off on Sunday, May 31, at the University of Ghana Stadium, with a place in next season's CAF Confederation Cup at stake. The winner of the FA Cup will represent Ghana in the continental competition.

Nations FC were relegated from the Premier League after finishing 16th in the standings, but Dormon believes their journey to the final tells a different story.

"Yes, Nations FC have been relegated, but as far as the FA Cup competition is concerned, they have told an impressive story," Dormon said. "So Dreams FC need to approach this game very cautiously."

Dreams FC have history in the competition, having won the FA Cup in the 2022/23 season and gone on to reach the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup. They will be aiming to add a second title to their name.

Dormon stressed that his focus is solely on preparations. "We are concentrating on our preparations coming into the game," he added.

The final offers Nations FC a chance at redemption, while Dreams FC are determined to cap their season with silverware and a return to the continent.
