Na God FC and Golden Warriors to contest relegation playoff

· GhanaSoccernet

The Ghana Football Association has scheduled a relegation playoff between Na God FC and Golden Warriors to determine which club will retain its Division One League status for the 2026/27 season.

The decisive encounter will be played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, May 30, with kickoff set for 3:00pm.

The playoff became necessary after both clubs finished the Division One League Zone Three campaign level on 34 points and could not be separated by their head-to-head record.

Golden Warriors won the first meeting between the sides 2-1 at home before Na God FC responded with an identical 2-1 victory in the reverse fixture, leaving the teams tied on points, goal difference in head-to-head matches and goals scored.

As a result, the GFA has ordered a one-off playoff to determine which team remains in Ghana's second-tier competition next season.

The stakes could hardly be higher, with the winner securing survival in the Division One League, while the losing side will be relegated to the Regional Division Two League for the 2026/27 campaign.

Both clubs will now have one final opportunity to preserve their status after a closely contested season that saw neither side able to gain an advantage over the other.

The match is expected to attract significant interest as two teams battle to avoid the drop and extend their stay in the Division One League.
