2026 World Cup: I am doing everything possible to ensure Black Stars perform – Sports Minister Kofi Adams
· GhanaSoccernetMinister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has expressed strong confidence that the Black Stars will be well-prepared and competitive at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana, four-time African champions, are set for their fifth appearance at the global tournament, which the United States, Canada, and Mexico will co-host.
Their qualification has, however, come against a backdrop of public concern following a series of inconsistent performances in recent months.
Speaking on Asempa FM, the Buem Member of Parliament said his focus remains on putting the right structures in place to ensure success on the world stage.
“I am doing everything possible to ensure that we do things the right way," Mr Adams said.
"I am not nervous, but I am rather calculated in doing things, and if I am convinced about what I am doing, nothing stops me.
“Pressure will come, but I will not let it consume me as a Sports Minister," he added.
Ghana have been drawn in Group L, where they will face England, Croatia, and Panama in what is widely considered one of the tournament’s toughest groups.
The Black Stars will begin their campaign against Panama on June 17, before taking on England on June 23. They will wrap up the group stage with a clash against Croatia on June 27.
As part of their final preparations, Ghana are scheduled to play international friendlies against Mexico later this month and Wales on June 2.
