Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer is at an excellent age - Mainz sporting director
· GhanaSoccernetMainz sporting director Niko Bungert has placed strong emphasis on the age profile of new signing Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer, describing the forward’s current stage of development as a major reason behind the club’s confidence in the transfer.
The Ghana international, who arrives on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract with Hamburger SV, has been singled out by Mainz for what Bungert called an 'excellent age'.
“At 24, Ransford is at an excellent age and we’re very pleased that we were able to convince him to take the next steps in his career with us at Mainz 05,” Bungert said.
The emphasis on age reflects Mainz’s broader recruitment approach, with the club valuing players who have already accumulated top-level experience but still possess significant room for growth.
Bungert also pointed to the forward’s consistency in recent seasons, underlining his reliability as a regular starter.
Königsdörffer featured in 33 Bundesliga matches last season, scoring five goals as Hamburg maintained their top-flight status, reinforcing his status as an established professional despite still being in the early stages of his prime years.
“Ransford Königsdörffer is a quick, physical forward whose style of play will fit our attack very well. He has been on the pitch in almost every competitive game over the past few seasons and has developed into a Bundesliga regular.”
