World Cup 2026: Ghana's group opponents Croatia finally arrive in USA, met by jubilant fans

Croatia, Ghana's group opponents, have finally arrived in the United States for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. 

The 2018 World Cup runners-up touched down in the Washington on Tuesday, before moving to their base in Alexandria, Virginia.

The players led by veteran midfielder Luka Modric were met by hundreds of Croatian fans, who cheered them on as they descended from their team bus to their hotel.

Croatia will pitch camp at the AKA Hotel and will train at the Episcopal High School.

The Vatrenis spent most of their time preparing in Zagreb and Rijeka, where they faced Belgium and Slovenia in friendlies. Croatia lost 2-0 to the Red Devils before defeating Slovenia 2-1.

Zlatko Dalic's men will begin their tournament with a game against group favourites England before facing Panama and Ghana.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars who are also camping in Virginia, will make a short trip to Toronto for their opener against Panama.

Ghana and Croatia will meet in the final group match on June 27 in Philadelphia.
