Former Ghana international Emmanuel Agyemang Badu is backing Hearts of Oak to shine in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League campaign.

The Phobians will kick start their campaign with a home game against newly promoted Premier League outfit Hohoe United at the Accra Sports Stadium, with President John Dramani Mahama expected to be in attendance.

Hearts of Oak enjoyed a good off-season, winning the Homowo Cup and the Democracy Cup respectively. Despite missing out on the GHALCA Top 4 title to Bibiani Goldstars on head to head rule, the Phobians exhibited a top-class performance throughout the tournament held at the University of Ghana Stadium last month.

While expressing satisfaction with Hearts of Oak’s preparation for the season, the former Udinese star has thrown his weight behind the club to excel in the Ghanaian top-flight.

“Hearts of Oak have really prepared for the upcoming Ghana Premier League season under new coach Didi Dramani. He’s played a couple of games with the team and you could see the mentality of the players have drastically changed”

“Gradually, I think the Phobia spirit is coming back. Hearts of Oak will be exciting this season. In the Top 4, they were able to stage a strong comeback against Goldstars after going down by two goals” he said.

The Phobians enjoyed a fairly good campaign during the 2024/25 Ghanaian football season. Despite missing out on a trophy, the team’s top-four finish in the Ghana Premier League was an improvement from the previous campaign, where the team almost suffered relegation.

After the improvement, Hearts of Oak are now aiming to win the Ghana Premier League in the 2025/26 season under the new coach.
