Maxwell Woledzi reiterates dream of playing for Ghana's Black Stars

Defender Maxwell Woledzi has re-affirmed his desire to play for Ghana at senior level despite a lack of invite from the technical team of the Black Stars.

Woledzi, a graduate of the famous Right to Dream Academy, has seen a meteoric rise in his career, landing him a move to the United States where he recently signed for Nashville SC.

Following his move to FC Nordsjaelland in 2019, Woledzi went on to feature for Vitoria Guimaraes before signing for Fredrikstad, where he became a cult hero, helping them win the Norwegian Cup.

Although, he is yet to receive a call-up to the national team, Woledzi remains optimistic of his chances of representing Ghana.

I’ve been wanting to play for the Black Stars since I was in Nordsjaelland so it’s not something new but I just have to make sure that in my club I give my best and do what I have to do for the people in charge to see who I am," he told Citi FM.

Everyone is hoping to play for the national team and if you play for the national team, is a proud moment for you and your family," he added.

The towering centre-back is currently in Ghana for holidays and will leave for USA later this month to begin pre-season with Nashville.
