Black Princesses working to improve finishing ahead of South Africa clash

Black Princesses head coach Charles Sampson has revealed that his side has spent the week sharpening their attacking edge as they prepare for Saturday's decisive World Cup qualifier against South Africa.

Speaking after the team's final training session in Mbombela on Friday, Sampson acknowledged that wasteful finishing in the first leg cost his side a vital advantage.

"We have been working on the last third the most this week because that's where we lack a bit," Sampson admitted.

The first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium ended in a 2–2 draw, with Ghana dominating possession and creating numerous chances but failing to convert their superiority into a winning margin. South Africa now holds the advantage with two away goals heading into the return fixture.

Despite the pressure, Sampson remains confident his players have learnt from the missed opportunities.

"Pressure is part of the game. We are playing to qualify for the World Cup. Unfortunately, we slipped a little bit in the last match. We are ready; the girls are ready to redeem themselves tomorrow and qualify for the next stage."

The return fixture will be played on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Nelspruit-Mbombela Stadium, with kick-off at 13:00 GMT. A win would send Ghana through to the final round of qualifiers, where they would face either Zambia or Uganda for a place at the World Cup in Poland.

For the Black Princesses, the mission is simple: find the net and keep their dream alive.
