Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer has expressed enthusiasm about his move to Mainz 05, stating that clear communication from the club’s technical team played a decisive role in his decision to join the Bundesliga side.

The Ghana international arrives on a free transfer after seeing out his contract with Hamburger SV, bringing an end to a four-year stay at the club.

“I’m really looking forward to this new challenge here in Mainz. The talks here gave me a very clear idea of the plan the head coach and the club have for me, and that was really convincing. I’ve also liked what I’ve seen of the city and the region so far. It feels really good to be here,” Königsdörffer said.

The 24-year-old forward is expected to officially complete his move on July 1, 2026, as Mainz continue to reshape their squad ahead of the upcoming season.

His arrival follows a consistent campaign in which he made 33 Bundesliga appearances and contributed five goals to help Hamburg remain in the top division.

The transfer marks a fresh start for the Berlin-born attacker, whose proposed move to OGC Nice collapsed at the medical stage in 2025.
