Bibiani Gold Stars' deputy communications and administrative manager Joseph Oti Manu has described the club's hard-fought victory over Kpando Heart of Lions as "crucial", setting the stage for a massive showdown with Accra Hearts of Oak this weekend.

Gold Stars secured a surprising 2-1 win away to Heart of Lions, a result that has firmly reignited their title defence. The defending champions now trail league leaders Medeama by just three points ahead of Sunday's clash against third-placed Hearts of Oak at Dun's Park.

Speaking exclusively to Citi Sports, Oti Manu emphasized the significance of the away victory.

"It was very crucial. It was very difficult to win an away match", he said. "We are the best club in the Premier League in home matches, but we should do well if we want to win the league."

Gold Stars have been revitalised under Swiss head coach Fritz Schmid, who was appointed two months ago following the departure of Frimpong Manso earlier in the season. Oti Manu credited Schmid's influence for the team's mental readiness.

"Fritz Schmid has done refresher training courses with the players since he arrived the last two months. So psychologically, the team was up to the task to win that match. We are really ready to welcome Hearts of Oak on Sunday."

Sunday's encounter pits second-placed Gold Stars against third-placed Hearts of Oak in a fixture with significant title implications. With Medeama sitting atop the standings, both sides will be desperate for maximum points to keep their championship ambitions alive.
