The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is determined to use the Black Stars’ campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup to make every Ghanaian proud.

This is according to Neil Armstrong Mortagbe, the head of pubic relations and strategy at the country’s football association.

Speaking to Asaase FM in an interview, Neil Armstrong disclosed that the FA is keen on using the World Cup to promote the country beyond the action on the field.

"Our target at the World Cup will be to make Ghana proud,” he said.

Neil Armstrong continued, "Football has raised interest, but this is an opportunity to promote ourselves beyond the sport.”

Ghana is one of 48 countries that will be taking part in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scheduled to be co-hosted by the United States of America, Canada, and Mexico.

The Black Stars have been drawn into Group L, where they face stern opposition from Panama, England, and Croatia.

Currently, new head coach Carlos Queiroz is in camp with a new crop of players for a friendly match against Mexico on Friday, May 22, as part of efforts to put together his final squad for the tournament.

After the Mexico game, Ghana will have the chance to engage Wales in another friendly before the start of the World Cup on June 11.
