Black Stars coach Otto Addo praises Japan’s quality ahead of international friendly
· GhanaSoccernetGhana head coach Otto Addo has acknowledged the strength and tactical discipline of Japan as the Black Stars prepare to face the Asian side in an international friendly at the Toyota Stadium in Aichi on Friday.
Speaking ahead of the match, Addo described Japan as a well-organised team capable of adapting their play in different phases of the game.
“Yeah, I think they still have a variety in the same system, so they can stay in the low block, where they look like defending the 5-4-1, but also out of this system, they can press very, very high. And to be honest, this is how I expect them to play against us,” Addo said.
He further praised Japan’s energy and tactical execution both on and off the ball.
“They have good transition moments, a good work rate and work ethic against the ball, but also with the ball, with high run capacities. And then surely, they have their individual players… Kubo, who can go one against one, good strikers, strong with quality in the air, and a strong and experienced defence with Itakura,” he added.
Addo concluded by saying Ghana are “well prepared” and looking forward to the challenge on Friday.
