Television presenter Laura Woods has reassured viewers that she is recovering well after collapsing live on ITV during the build-up to England’s friendly against Ghana on Tuesday evening.

Woods was presenting pitchside at St Mary’s Stadium when she suddenly stumbled forward, prompting pundits Ian Wright and Anita Asante to quickly assist her before the broadcast cut to a commercial break. When coverage resumed, Katie Shanahan took over hosting duties and informed viewers that Woods had “been taken ill”.

The popular broadcaster later addressed the incident on Instagram, writing: “Gosh that was a bit weird. Sorry to worry everyone, I’m OK, the wonderful paramedics at Saints have said it’s probably a virus, just need a bit of rest & hydration. I’m really embarrassed that happened on TV, but a big thank you to my colleagues at ITV who have really looked after me tonight. And to Wrighty and Neets for catching me and sorry again.”

Her fiancé, Adam Collard, also sought to calm concerns earlier in the evening, posting on X: “Laura is all OK and with the right people. Thank you for all of your kind messages.”

Woods, a familiar presence on ITV and TNT Sports football coverage, received well wishes from the broadcasters and fans alike. ITV shared a message on X wishing her “a speedy recovery”, echoed by England’s Lionesses, who went on to secure a 2-0 win with goals from Lucia Kendall and Alessia Russo.
