Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren says he is highly impressed by the energy, commitment, and mentality displayed by his squad as Ghana steps up preparations in Birmingham ahead of the upcoming high-profile friendly against England on Tuesday, December 2.

The Queens regrouped in camp earlier this week, and according to the Swedish trainer, the early signs have been overwhelmingly positive.

Bjorkegren revealed that the players arrived with strong enthusiasm and a collective desire to keep building on the progress made over the past year.

“It’s always good to be back with the squad,” he said. “The players came in with smiles, with energy, with belief. We’ve had one good training and one friendly game already, and the attitude has been fantastic.”

The Black Queens played a closed-door practice match - two halves of 45 minutes - against a strong English side, using the opportunity to rotate the squad and give every player minutes.

Bjorkegren emphasized that this approach is key as the group contains players who enjoy consistent game time at club level and others who have fewer minutes.

“Regardless of their club situations, they always arrive with the right mindset,” he noted.

“They enjoy being together. The unity and the belief in camp is very strong.”

The coach also highlighted the smooth integration of new players, including Switzerland-based Benedicte Simon, whom he praised for her speed, strength, and confidence on the ball.

With the England test approaching, Bjorkegren believes the cohesion shown in camp is a major positive sign as the Black Queens continue their long-term push toward becoming one of Africa’s elite women’s sides.
