World Cup 2026: We’ll fight with a winning mentality – Black Stars Carlos Queiroz

Ghana are set for their fifth World Cup appearance, after booking a place for the expanded tournament to be co-hosted in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The West African football heavyweights are paired in Group L against European giants, England, 2018 World Cup finalists, Croatia and Panama. Ghana will open their account against Panama before taking on England and Croatia respectively.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, the former Real Madrid tactician affirmed his outfit will fight with a winning mentality as they seeks to make a meaningful impact at the global showpiece.
“When the game starts, it’s 50-50. People need to accept that football is unpredictable. We fight for the result. We’ll be on the pitch with one thing in mind: to make people happy. We’ll fight with a winning mentality”
“If we’re the best team on the day, the chances to leave as winners are always high. And I hope when our players come off, they come with their heads up — proud of themselves, and make Ghana proud” he said.
Ghana will face Wales in an international friendly on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, with the former Real Madrid gaffer expected to use the game to fine-tune his squad for the biggest soccer mundial, which kick-start next week in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.
The West African football powerhouse has previously competed in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022, with their best performance coming in 2010 when they reached the quarterfinals.
